The Cycle of Nerath

Partially inspired by the art of William O'Connor, partially refreshed by battling zombies I present the outline of a new Campaign.

It is set in Nerath. This is the 4th ed world, used for points of light and "Conquest of Nerath". It's light on detail, big on map. It's like looking at a Master of Magic or Civilisation map. 'because it was the 4th ed world it has hardly been used for politics or social gaming at all!
Points of light: Politics: Dungeons

There are three story arcs. "Rage of Demons", "Incursion" and "Ashardalon" weaving together to get the players to EPIC

There are a few common enemies and threads throughout these-

  • demogorgon and the effects/after-effects of demons/demon meddling
  • dragons and their permanent impact on the world
  • the machinations of underdark and the fiend folio favourites
  • lingering Undead and creeping Cthulu

Githyanki/Mindflayers: Grey Dwarves: Drow

On the player side I would like to make a few things available. Some more flexible classes, races, vestiges, and progression in social environment- henchmen, guild/laboratory/march keep. I am cognisant of keeping a lid on power levels. I'm still nutting out how to do this.

Although 5th ed has done a good job of reigning in magical items I think there is still a tendancy to either discard magic weapons or have a golf-bag. Weapons of legacy sorts this, so I will be re-doing it for 5th. You will note for example, that magical armour can be either adamantine or +1 to +3. I approve of this. You have to make a choice- do I want a higher armour class or immunity from criticals?

Game time will still be Sat 5p, fortnightly.

More to follow.
